Safety precautions when operating a car with LPG

Leaks detected during daily inspections can be detected by the characteristic odor caused by the addition of odorant to the gas. The flow valve on the multivalve should be opened completely to avoid restricting the flow of gas.

On a car equipped with LPG, prohibited:

  • Operation of a vehicle with an expired gas cylinder inspection period;
  • Engine operation with faulty gas equipment and gas leaks;
  • Carry out repair work in the presence of gas in the supply system;
  • Tighten the fastening of LPG connections with a filled cylinder;
  • Knocking on rebar under pressure;
  • Put a car with a faulty LPG system in a closed room;
  • Start the engine, drive in and out of the garage on gas;
  • Store a gas cylinder car in a garage with the valves of the unit open;
  • Drain gas from the cylinder and from the LPG system in the room;
  • Check the tightness of LPG connections with fire;
  • Be near the gas filling hose when refueling LPG.

Actions in case of gas leakage:

  • Stop a car in a sparsely populated place;
  • Turn off the ignition;
  • Close the flow valve;
  • Drop off passengers;
  • Taking precautions, release the gas from the cylinder into the atmosphere;
  • Switch to gasoline and go to a specialized service station.

Actions under fire:

  • Turn off the ignition immediately;
  • Close the flow valve;
  • Try to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher or sand.
